Joseph "Joe" Perry, age 93, of Hixson, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

Joe was a native of Danbury, Connecticut and a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 72 years. He served our country in the United States Air Force for over 27 years during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Joseph "Joe" Perry, age 93, of Hixson, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

Joe was a native of Danbury, Connecticut and a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 72 years. He served our country in the United States Air Force for over 27 years during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Joe was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal just to mention a few. After his retirement from the Air Force, Joe was employed with Sherman Williams Downtown Commercial Store, the Triple - A Courier Services and he also delivered automobiles for different dealers. Joe was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Perry; siblings, Mamie Bowling, Jasper Perry, Jr., and Frank Perry.

Joe is survived by his son, Joe Michael Perry and wife Marcia, Bossier City, LA; two grandsons, Jim Perry and wife Jennifer, Ooltewah and Jeff Perry and wife Brenda, Lavernia, TX; four great grandchildren, Isabel, Jake, Jessica and Nick; sister, Katie Simone; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm EST on Tuesday, May 23, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm EST on Wednesday at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens with Pastor Reed Shell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Suite 102, Chattanooga, TN 37421 or the American Diabetes Association, 5805 Lee Highway, Suite 204, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN.
